Movie Studio Platinum 13 question about audio tracks

Hello, I realize I'm a few versions behind. I am using Movie Studio Platinum 13 but I figure the basics are the same.

I have been using this product for years and I just noticed for the first time that when I make a new blank audio track, by default there are three effects loaded and enabled: track compressor, eq, and noise gate. has this always been the case or did I accidentally change a setting?

thanks! and yeah, I'll upgrade my software at some point

Please see e.g. this thread from 2009.

Note that the VEGAS Movie Studio product line has been discontinued. The last version was # 17. The current Movie Studio 2022 (and 18) is a totally different product from MAGIX. (See this thread and another.)

ok question about upgrading then. if I get the movie studio 2022, will it be able to load my Vegas Platinum 13 projects without altering them? or are the projects married to the software I used to edit them? thanks

Unfortunately (as stated in the threads I linked to above) Movie Studio 18 and 2022 are not discussed or supported on this VEGAS Community forum. However, support for those MAGIX products is available at https://www.magix.info/us/video-forum/movie-edit-pro/. You should ask there for the current state of affairs regarding this issue.

Things may or may not have changed since this document was published: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/support/article/can-i-still-work-on-my-old-vegas-movie-studio-projects--1611/

It has been this way with every Vegas version I have owned since VV2 in 2001. The user is not able to change this, accidentally or otherwise. Here's a shot from Vegas Pro 19.

The three filters are transparent until you add some parameters, so no worries at all.

You won't be upgrading in the normal sense, because no path to newer VMS Platinum exists. You may find occasional deals on VMS Platinum 17 on Steam or Humble Bundle.
