Senior Moment -- insert markers at scene cuts

Musicvid wrote on 9/6/2019, 8:59 PM

I'm importing 100+ stills at 10 sec intervals from a folder.

How do I insert a Marker at each cut point either on import or later?

Sorry, I've seen this, but I forgot.

@Musicvid ... was it Vegasaur Timeline/Markers (At Events selection)?

It doesn't do it on importing events, but highlighting all the events and then hitting Apply in Vegasaur does add a Marker at the beginning of all the events that have been highlighted.

I suppose that's it.

I found a slick way to this.

Open Event Details.

Copy the data in Events

Open Excel

Format the B column hh:ss:mm.000

Paste data into Excel

Copy the Start Times column

Paste into Markers

Voila'! There they be!

Slick!

Just like my friends!

@Musicvid - Nice usage. I’ve used EXCEL T/C to Generate INs and OUTs for clients to “agree” or “suggest” Edits. Great for the Edited Spoken Word, it revolutionised my Workflow from on-site to final delivery.

Well, I cut my baby teeth on Excel, Perl Scripts, and mental math. Only the first one still serves me.

So, I pasted the new marker data into markers.txt, and with the aid of Drax, my mp4 (actually m4v) has 128 chapters, one for each slide. These markers activate the Next / Previous buttons in VLC, giving the jockey full manual control over the slideshow, whether in Play or Pause mode. A bitchy customer was responsible for this.

… with the aid of Drax

Drax? Wasn't he the baddie in James Bond 'Moonraker' who ended up exploring the universe sans spacecraft, spacesuit or oxygen?

Notwithstanding, the Excel approach to Markers is brilliant.

Probably.

But his nerdy son gave us this --

It's a small space indeed.
