I tried to install pro vegas 17 and it worked but after a while, I wanted a fresh vegas pro so I tried to uninstall it and because I am so dumb uninstalled all the files on my computer that had sony in their name first before uninstalling the program itself. after this, I tried to install it and said I should uninstall before reinstalling so I searched up how I can uninstall it and then I saw I did it wrong. now if I try to uninstall it through control panel uninstall it doesn't work and I can reinstall it. if someone can help me it would be appreciated. this is a picture of the problem

@Slezzy I recommend using advanced 3rd party uninstallers as they perform WAY better than what the standard Windows uninstaller can do. The Windows built in uninstaller can NEVER do a clean uninstall and always leaves junk files leftovers which grows over time whenever you uninstall applications and this can cause many problems including system slowdowns and hangs.

I have tried many 3rd parties uninstallers in the past and found out that Revo Uninstaller Pro 4 is the best overall. It has many useful features and one that I like is called Force Uninstall which uninstall any problematic application. I have been using it for about 5 years and I am very happy with it. It costs now $17.95 and it worth every penny .

You can download the trial version from here:

@Slezzy Because Vegas Pro was installed before installing Revo Uninstaller, you need to use the Forced Uninstall and it should work. See screenshot below:

Slezzy, Install Vegas again using the same installer as before. Don't delete any files!

Now, the uninstaller will be there to use to uninstall Vegas, I predict.

If your system restore feature is enabled in your computer, you can try to restore to the point before you deleted the files. If not, then I am sorry I can't help. I still recommend and encourage to buy the full version of Revo Uninstaller Pro. It's only $17.95 and it's a great investment.

@Slezzy I found the following information from Revo website.. Did you try it?

How can I remove a program, which when I try to uninstall using Programs and Feature or Revo Uninstaller Pro, I see the same error message?

Most likely, this error message is generated by the built-in uninstaller of the program you want to uninstall, which both the Programs and Features applet and Revo Uninstaller Pro try to run during the uninstallation procedure. In most cases, Revo Uninstaller Pro can handle the uninstallation process even if the built-in uninstaller of the program is not functioning properly. In that case, you should start the uninstallation procedure with Revo Uninstaller as usual, and when you see that error message, you can simply skip (ignore) it, click the Scan button to start scanning for the leftovers of the program, and continue forward to review and delete the found leftover data.

@Musicvid He can try that but I don't think this will help because normal uninstall of Vegas is still a required step to do a clean uninstall and normal install is broken in his case.

@Slezzy

I tried to uninstall vegas 16, same issue, DLL missing

I manually had to remove it, and clean out some other folders and registry.

A good tool I ran afterwards is to run geek.exe, look for geek uninstaller on the internet.

It found several other registry stuff to delete related to Vegas 16.

Where did you download the software from initially? Was it a trial or a fully registered copy?

@Slezzy If you have the time, resetting a computer and starting fresh is very good idea especially if you didn't do that in a long time. This will improve your system performance as well as eliminating most, if not all problems that you may have in your system.

Don't have the time, then I recommend to buy Revo Uninstaller Pro as its considerd a great investment to your computer. I install a lot of trial softwares in my system and in most cases I don't like to keep them in my PC after trying them, so I uninstall all of them using Revo Uninstaller Pro which dose an amazing job in doing "Clean" uninstalls. My system stays very clean like I never installed those software in the first place. Just try to always install any software with Revo Uninstaller Pro as this help it better monitor your system during the installation so it knows exactly what changed in your system and it can undo it to create a clean uninstall.

Good luck..

@Slezzy BTW, in the past, I used to always create a system restore points before I install any trial software (including the trail versions of Vegas Pro) and I restore the system to that point before installing the software. This helps make sure that my system stays clean after I finish trying the softwares. However, it was a time consuming process to do it every time, but after using Revo Uninstaller Pro since the last five years or so, I never had to create a system restore point again .. Revo Uninstaller Pro is that good to help keep my system clean from jucks and software leftovers after uninstallation is done, thus keeps my system running at optimal performance.

Although Revo Uninstaller is free, I highly recommend to pay the $17.95 and get the Pro version because it offers extra valuable features. The portable version is also good option if you have many computers.

Revo Uninstall Pro 'portable' can be used on multiple PCs for only a few $ more.
