Fransiscus-Sukardi wrote on 4/18/2020, 5:20 PM

Hi,

I have get the message in a window saying An error occurred while opening one or more files. There is no license to use this software. The last time I used this was in December last year.

Can you tell me how to fix this issue?

Thanks,

Fransiscus Sukardi

Is there a way download the installation file directly instead of downloading vegaspro14edit_dlm?

The vegaspro14edit_dlm failed with communication error as if it cannot connect to the internet, which is strange because I have no problem downloading it.

Yes!

I had better luck downloading the full VegasPro14.exe from https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/proxy/b8d789bdd334f9af6958/?link=http%3A//dl03.vegascreativesoftware.com/vegaspro14.exe

Used my existing serial number and it went smoothly. It was a Humble Bundle purchase/

I had trouble with the vegaspro14edit_dlm.exe as well.

vegaspro14.exe has the same error.

vegaspro14.exe (4,740,592 bytes) is almost the same size as vegaspro14edit_dlm.exe (4,636,136 bytes). It is likely not the full program, and still needs to download the full binary from the internet and that is where it fails.

So far I ran Windows Network Diagnostics and Windows found no error. I also ran Network reset from Windows Settings Network and Internet.

I ran a network trace and found that the program tries to go to http://www.magix.com and the server asks to go to https://www.magix.com instead. And then the program stops.

Thank you. I found the full install binary in the list of that faq.

But after installing, it failed to activate because it was not able to connect to the internet. I install it in another computer and it works fine. It may have been Windows updates that is causing the problem with the first computer,

Musicvid wrote on 4/19/2020, 10:45 AM

I cannot vouch for your internet connection, or what firewalls, vpn, proxies, antivirus, UAC, etc. are causing your experience. Are you running the .exe with Windows Administrator privileges? Magix Support is linked at the top of this page.

Could also be elevated security on your ISP's Apache server.

I can vouch for the fact that vegaspro14. exe. installs and works flawlessly on Windows 10 and 7 at this location. It's not the software causing your issue.

Please do post back and let us know when you have it fixed, as others can benefit from your experience.

Fransiscus-Sukardi wrote on 4/19/2020, 2:39 PM

As far as I know the problem is only with that one PC where Vegas 14 was originally installed. I can say with confidence that outside of that one PC, everything works as it should because the other PC uses the same resources. So the problem is not with my ISP, my router setup, my network, etc because they are used by the other PC. Perhaps it was even the few updates that was installed automatically by Windows and it's interaction with other software in that PC that caused the problem. But it was quite difficult to say, because I have not used Vegas 14 for about 2 months, and there are many updates with Windows and others that happened for that 2 months.

The remedy would probably be to re-install Windows in the PC where it does not work to see if that would solve the problem, but I do not have time at this time to do that.

Have you checked your MAGIX Account > My products to see the current status of your activations?

Musicvid wrote on 4/19/2020, 7:19 PM

I missed the line where you said it was working on another computer. But that does isolate it.

If it comes to it, and I hope it doesn't, there are instructions for doing a Clean Uninstall here:

After a Windows update, and having the same problem, that is what I did. Found out that somehow, there was 2 activations for the same computer. So deactivated one, and was good to go.

vkmast wrote on 4/29/2020, 5:22 AM

@Reyfox there are some earlier reports on the forum of this happening as well, e.g. here.
