VP17 crashes on launch (white error screen)

MAC-MCGINNIS wrote on 2/25/2020, 4:12 PM

I just purchased (downloaded) VP17. However, just like VP16 I get the error report screen at launch. I was never able to use 16 due to the same reason. I was hoping 17 would work. I'm still using 15. I have a Windows 7 PC. It's a newer PC I had built. The software will launch eventually if I press send on the error report. But it's not stable. And I'm afraid to start any type of large project in this condition. I get a notice on start up regarding the possibility of incompatibility with Windows 7. But it should still work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Microsoft, NVIDIA, Intel, AMD is not supporting Win7... so... VEGAS 17 "requires" Win10.

"Any suggestions would be appreciated."

My suggestions:

1) Download the installation media for Windows 10 from Microsoft at this location.

2) Create the DVD or USB bootable installation media.

3) From the Windows 7 File Explorer, Double-Click on Setup.exe on the media that you just created.

4) Replace Windows 7 with Windows 10 as an in-place upgrade keeping all your files and apps.

5) Answer "No" to all the offers of "help" to do your job on the first screen before the setup is complete.

6) Move on with your life. Windows 7 support ended on January 14.

I know It's a tough bridge to cross for many, but MS makes it pretty easy for us to get Windows 10. I had good luck with academic and OEM pricing.

I did free in-place upgrades on Windows 7 Pro machines that were built after the free upgrade period. Once Windows 10 is activated and that hardware is known to Microsoft, you can do a clean installation if you wish. I have system images saved for any and all of the above.
