I would love an option to change the sound waveform colour as the dull grey makes it nearly invisible (I have changed the track colours to same as V18 as I like these). Any way to do this? Thanks.
Hi. Is ProRes supported? If not, what is recommended format when converting it for editing on Vegas?
@Erkki Yes, I have worked with proRES HQ 422 files obtained by Blackmagic video assist 4k already with VP16 with excellent results. (I edited an entire feature film without any particular problems).
Initially looks good. 4 issues encountered so far:
1. When using preview on 2nd monitor (screen pixel count smaller than main display), preview picture is partially visible also on primary display.
2. Application will hang (does not crash, some UI icons respond but menus does not work) when docking Vegas hub or Vegas explorer. If you don't dock dialogs using such features work as expected.
3. When listening audio files on Vegas Hub, you need additional mouse click before they start playing.
4. Help is referring Vegas pro 18 version when you open it. Change date refers "Last changes: Tuesday, July 7, 2020".

Stability seems to be much better than in version v18 that is very good. Let's see if this remains once using program more.
1. When using preview on 2nd monitor (screen pixel count smaller than main display), preview picture is partially visible also on primary display.
Change your Display preferences by checking the "Use Alternate HighDPI Settings".
2. Application will hang (does not crash, some UI icons respond but menus does not work) when docking Vegas hub or Vegas explorer. If you don't dock dialogs using such features work as expected.
We will look into this.
3. When listening audio files on Vegas Hub, you need additional mouse click before they start playing.
I will forward this issue to the developer who has been working on this.
4. Help is referring Vegas pro 18 version when you open it. Change date refers "Last changes: Tuesday, July 7, 2020".
We are currently working on the Help files. We hope to have them available in one of the first couple updates. We have been a little short on tech writing resources this past year.
Jumping in a bit late here -- but I'm thinking the buzz about VST3 support is not such a big deal as far as Vegas is concerned. Certainly not the showstopper some would make it.
95% of the work done on VST3 relates to VST Instruments, not VST Effects, which are the plugins Vegas uses. If Vegas ever adds the clutterbucket of full DAW features (Instruments, MIDI, Loops), then of course it should support VST3. Personally, I hope that never happens; it's a different arena. Cakewalk is now free.
Most plugin manufacturers have not abandoned VST2 support for effects, and probably never will. Some have no interest in releasing VST3 versions of their tried-and-true Effects libraries.
The advantage of VST3 idle processing in negligible; how many audio effects do you plan on chaining in a video application?
Personally, I haven't seen any VST3-only Effects that I would purchase or plan on using in Vegas. I use the plugins for utilitarian, not the Gee-Whiz stuff, although I'm sure there are plenty of those types out there, who should be sticking with their DAW composers.
Here's a fair summary of the differences; to me, an incremental advance is not a reason to build a whole new engine, at least not for a few years.
as I suspected, I will stay with 18 till the end of the beta testing cycle of 19 before I migrate over..my first thirty minute impression.. Buggy, Red screen, slow slow sluggish... :)
Red screen indicates a GPU issue and isn't something that's been reported much. I suggest you start your own thread and see if there's a way to fix it rather than waiting. Performance-wise it's similar to 18 for me.
yeah, ,no time to trouble shoot right now.. I did a render and it came out all fragmented. when I get some spare time I will work through it. God knows I know how to trouble shoot Vegas :). for now 18 is rock stable and I have videos to put out every week so when I get time I will screw with it but it did all sort of weird stuff like taking forever to read in the audio peaks and play back was terrible sluggish and a pre-render into memory was painfully slow. But like I say will more than likely wait till the end of the beta testing cycle next year before trying to move to it if my past experience is any indication.. thanks!

9 times out of 10, a GPU driver update fixes the red screen issue. Check the GPU driver update utility in the VEGAS 19 help menu.
I made a mistake with purchase, and I purchased Vegas Post 19 instead of Vegas Post 365 (12 months billed annually). I have been a Vegas customer for more than 10 years. Please be so kind (Vegas admin) and change my licence from Vegas Post 19 into Vegas Post 365 (12 months billed annually). English is not my home language and I haven`t noticed the label: "exclusively in subscription". I need Text to Audio feature because I have a few clients videos to edit.
Also is there a way to make the "Visible Button Set" on each track transparent again? W/ them having square colors around them it just adds my clutter for my eyes.
I forgot to add that there is an internal preference that controls the opacity of the background of the buttons and event labels. Open the internal preferences dialog and type in "opacity" in the search field. You should see a setting in there for "Region Information Background Opacity". You can change this to 0 for completely transparent or and value between 0 and 255 to different levels of opacity.
As far as I can see, the option to 'Deactivate the Software on this PC' has been removed in Vegas 19 which made it possible to switch between computers/laptops (without expiring the 2 per month activation limit doing it the other way). I completely understand not allowing multiple instances of Vegas running consecutively, but for anyone running 2 machines, there has to be a way to switch between them. Am I missing something?
Was supposed to get Vegas Pro Edit 19 for free after responding to offer from Magix via email. The offer was to buy Vegas Pro Edit 18 now, then I would receive an email from Magix for the new version of Vegas Pro Edit 19. Vegas Edit Pro 19 has launched, but there is no word from Magix about my FREE copy of Vegas Pro Edit 19. I am not aware of any mechanism to contact them directly about this matter. I have all the email confirmations and purchase documents pertaining to this problem, but no way to make them aware of this. My only recourse is to contact my credit card company and get them involved. Anybody know how to resolve this problem?
Thanks for the information, vkmast. I was concerned that I had fallen through a very large crack! I have already checked my spam folder and trash folders just in case it might have went to those two places.
As several previous comments on the forum say, you should receive an email in the next few days containing your serial number for VEGAS Pro 19. Watch also your spam folder. Please be patient.
Pure speculation but I see Magix going only subscription next year.
I cannot guarantee anything, but I do not think we would do that at any point in the foreseeable future. With our team moving toward a continuous delivery model, however, what a perpetual license looks like will likely need to change a bit. Going strictly to a full subscription model would probably devastate our revenue...at least in the short term.
All that said, pushing users to a subscription allows us to provide exciting cloud based features such has VEGAS Content and Text to Speech.
I vote to leave it the way it is or at least leave us the option of buying the new version every year. just putting that out there.
