Could We Lose The Search Assistant?

Comments

I'd really like to know how often this 'assistance' popup gets used in the way that MAGIX expected. Has it really proved to be overwhelmingly beneficial to any forum users versus the wide-ranging annoyance that it clearly causes to forum users? Has anyone actually used it for its intended purpose? And if yes, what was the outcome?

The response to this could probably be: Cue the sounds of crickets chirping.

I suspect that nobody in Magix uses, views the forum on an iPad. On say a laptop, PC, its bad enough, but much worse, takes up more space on an iPad. So much for Magix listening to user feedback.

one would have thought that a thread over six pages would have grabbed the attention of who ever should be listening..

He hasn't contacted me since I silenced him with "uBlock Origin".

There is no need for this to be a screen overlay, just make a sticky thread with a link to the chat and be done with it.

Just tried "uBlock Origin" in Firefox and as @walter-i. said--no more annoying assistant. Anyone else use this add-on?

Yes, on PC.

On Android, Firefox does a "pretty good" job.

With this, as well as with other software and support, why would we have to block intrusions on something we paid for?

Using "uBlock" in Chrome Browser is working for me since first appearence of this "helper"

I added "uBlock Origin" soon after Search Assistant reared it's ugly head. .. gone, in Firefox and Pale Moon, my default browser.

Out of the 130 comments, no one finds it useful and is extremely annoying. Apparently the 'deep thinkers' at Magix are not paying attention and/or do not care.

Grazie wrote on 8/2/2020, 10:22 AM

I even tried asking It “How do I permanently turn off The Vegas Support Assistant?” One of its most annoying features is that will OBSCURE my iPad KeyBoard. Stunning....

Perhaps we ALL should bombard it with “valuable” questions. What do yah think?

wwaag wrote on 8/2/2020, 11:19 AM

What really annoyed me was the fact that it would mostly cover up the "full - screen" icon when playing videos that had been uploaded to the forum.

Damn this chingadera!

On my Android tablet, it obstructs the REAL SEARCH BOX every time! Anyone see the irony? Absurd.

perhaps past time to lock this thread.

@michael-harrison

I think we should leave the thread active until someone from Magix says "No". I understand that the Vegas developers may not make policy for all of Magix corporate servers.

michael-harrison wrote on 8/11/2020, 10:53 AM

@john_dennis well, everyone needs their own windmill. I would think that after 6 pages of replies the answer would be clear :-)

Maybe time to start tagging mods and magix employees on every reply. If you want change, sometimes you gotta make "the man" suffer.

Mods don't make these decisions. Scanning this thread it seems neither does the VEGAS team. An admin informed us in April that he has "already addressed this "feature request" [to turn that thing off] to the product owner."

michael-harrison wrote on 8/11/2020, 11:43 AM

@vkmast presumably mods have more clout with the admins and company so I would hope that the pain would more quickly move up the chain. Either way, I with the forum system had a way to mute specific threads.

"Muting" is a moderator decision here as well. I think @john_dennis has a valid point regarding this.
