Wasted? The issue could be solved by adding single filter with pre-defined preset to Output FX! And this is described in FAQ long time ago.

I already stated:

This problem alone has demotivated me to even finish the project, as there's really not much I can do. Explaining this would cause drama and I really don't want more people assuming that I am just here to hate on the VEGAS software.

I have learnt the outcome of explaining my problems any further here.

If YouTube does not help, there are also several user-created Help sections on this forum. E.g. This Post (please read also the prologue there) linked early on in this thread mentions (among other things) "VEGAS Pro FAQs and Troubleshooting Guides" which includes this FAQ from 2016.

How old are you? :)

says the one comparing vegas to a toy.

This is what I said:

(...)Vegas ain't toy. It's a tool.

So stop lying!

The fact that you treat Vegas as if it were a toy doesn't make it a toy. You sure you're not these guys:

Eh?

"They" all should learn the software first, Vegas ain't toy. It's a tool. And tools can hurt if misused, unlike toys which are mostly idiot-proof. :)

If that's a problem, then make it so it isn't. It wont make itself - by itself now, will it? :)

The only question here is: do you know how to use Vegas? If not: don't use it, you'll hurt yourself!

If it's intuitive what you meant by intuitional, then let me ask you this: is Vegas somehow supposed to read your mind? Feel what you feel? Is Vegas supposed to be some kind of AI or something?

What is your point adis-a3097? One purpose of this forum is to help people, especially new people like me, that are experiencing issues and also teach about something specific to said new people's problems.

Everything you are saying does not colorate and makes absolutely no sense. How can a person 'learn the software' without even using it? Everyone has started as a newbie even you. Your ignorant logic is that only certain people born with genetic features can use Vegas. Which planet are you from?

No, Mister, you're not listening. You've been given an answer already.

One man's problem is another man's godsend. There are some difficulties prereading software flags to propose an output, and they are wrong often enough to cause mayhem. The most obvious point is that Vegas does not do an actual levels scan pass, nor does any other software, which would add hours to encoding times, and still mangle high-key and low-key scene levels.

Do your pictures always come back right from the drugstore? There's your best answer wrt auto leveling.

I chuckle at the idea of adding a soccer-mom feature to "fix" what is an inherited set of conditions that weren't created to make it easy on the the novice, just to prevent crt meltdowns and high voltage cage explosions in living rooms before ATSC2 digital. However, the discussions here started in 2011, and no one actually involved then or since has proposed clipping the preview to appease church-picnic videographers by "removing colors from our sight." For you, Premiere is your friend -- sometimes.

HERE IS THE MOTHERLODE ARCHIVE!

It is to be considered required reading for anyone, @amir-k, interested in pursuing the current line of questioning. I plan to update all the archive links this summer, and post the archive, in recognition of the wonderful work done by our friend and consummate professional wildlife photographer, @amendegw https://www.flickr.com/photos/34185009@N02/

Here is Nick's first tutorial. Realize that we only had a clue at that time, not a "cure" other than the obvious. I know we have both backed off the PBS standard in effect at that time, to allow some superwhite and superblack clipping, aka Luminance Slop, as befits current practices. That said, the graphics are wonderful, and should bring an inkling to some following the discussion.

And Here is the "Mammoth Discussion" that led up to it:

http://web.archive.org/web/20160628100641/http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=745821

And the "controversial" video tutorial that started it all (Leveling instructions for Movie Studio begin at 04:30)

And here are the kind of discussions we used to have, when another expert (not Nick) just couldn't keep from stirring the pot. Thanks @vkmast

New users, who inevitably remind us of what we already know, need to be aware they are beating a dead horse, not making stunning new revelations that will gain them attention through bandwagon rhetoric -- "Liberate Levels!" It is the way that it is, magical thinking notwithstanding.

I think the free SeMW extension comes close to what @amir-k was looking for. But it only addresses levels, not colors. I think the way it operates through a levels adjustment on preview that disables itself on render is brilliant. That being said, it would be even even more brilliant (blazing?) if Vegas implemented the same behavior on their preview screen for a LUT which would cover not only levels but color matching as well. And while they're at it, maybe disable it in scopes as well as renders.
